Shigeru Eguchi graduated from Ibaraki University and earned his M.A. in Japanese Pedagogy at the University of Iowa in 1994. He is currently a lecturer of Japanese language at the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University. He is also a coordinator of the sujmer language and culture program at Hokkaido International Foundation (H.I.F.), Hokkaido, Japan. Orie Yamada is originally from Japan, where she taught Japanese language for students from all over the world at the ECC language school in Nagoya until 1995. She received her M.A. in Asian Studies from the University of Illinois in 1997. At present, she is a lecturer of Japanese language at Columbia University.
